I spent time in Los Angeles.... lived to tell about it.

Please Stand By...

Please forgive me dear blog reader, while I catch my bearings. 

I didn't expect that after the wedding and honeymoon I would find myself crashing so fast, but here's where I could use a vacation... or at least another day off. I know... there's a lot of work to be done... get back on track with my original mission for the year (besides getting married), but I'd rather just kick back right now, watch the Olympics, and drink some red wine... at least I'm doing the latter while I type this.

We're still finding the brilliant surprise around the corner... a thoughtful card and gift... another birthday celebration... many more well-wishes for our new life together. Trying to find your way back into regular day life is a bit of a challenge... buy who wants an "everyday" life?

I was surprised to hear Adam Ant's 1995 song "Wonderful" on the drive into work today... I remember doing a whole radio tribute to the guy around that same time on WBER... brought back a memory or two... I thought I remember the song being slightly better. I'm actually gearing up to do another radio tribute show... for another 80s artist... but hey, before you think I'm stuck in the decade of greed, look at my post from yesterday-- Frank Turner is an exciting new artist from the UK that has caught my ear... sounding like a young Billy Bragg (ok, maybe I am rooted somewhat in the 1980s). But rest assured that I am looking forward... 

Sarah and I are starting to consider where we will move. It's a complicated matter that I won't get into here. It's all good, just takes some consideration....

In the meantime, we are planning another party... this upcoming Sunday. It will be another celebration of music, love, and peace... oh, and it's a potluck... nice to have more things to look forward to!

Feeling kind of exhausted today... I think the late nights this past weekend have finally caught up with me. 


Although I feel guilty about not getting to the gym this evening, my legs feel pretty good from all the dancing. Here's another karaoke moment: another go at Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" (the night before I did "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," but don't have that on video):




Not quite as successful as the Oingo Boingo song, but I do see some progress in terms of performing (here's a go at the same song back in February). This clip also reminds me that I did indeed do a split that evening! Once I strengthen my singing, I should be all set... but will have to pace it with the dancing! How does Britney Spears do it?... Eh, don't answer that.

Solid Gold!

I'm telling you, if this weekend were being judged like the current Summer Olympics, it would a gold medal-winner! 


My birthday/post-wedding celebration continued from Thursday on, including two nights of karaoke and dancing at Albany's Fuze Box nightclub. It was wild heading back to the Fuze, which stirs up all kinds of good memories for Sarah and me. The DJ was someone we knew previously, and she gave us a special shout out, and special non-80s request: "Analogue" by A-ha, which I had hoped to have played at the wedding reception. It was just a non-stop party, with plenty of great tunes (it helps to give requests ahead of time)! I certainly did a lot of dancing over the past couple days. 


Also, I really enjoyed last night's karaoke, held at bar called Bourbon Street, here in Schenectady. The DJ has everything... I even had a go at this old blast-from-the-past favorite of mine:





It certainly feels great to have strangers coming up to me afterwards, sharing their praise... saying that "you were really 'feeling' that song!" Yeah, I do love doing this type of thing, and watching the clip back, I see areas where I believe I did indeed "nail it." To me, it confirms the feeling I have that I should be trying my hand at more music and performing, in a much more dedicated, serious effort.


Tonight Sarah made a delicious dinner, with vegetables we picked up this afternoon at the local farmer's market--there's no comparison to fresh, from the farm to table taste.

Back to the Future

Today is National Dance Day, so tonight we are heading to... where else? The Fuze Box! Where it all began!
